Originally from Northern California, ALEXA MIRAMONTES is an interior designer now based out of Los Angeles where she earned her Associate of Arts Degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in 2015. Her career has been shaped by collaborations with talented designers such as Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Jane Hallworth, and she currently provides her expertise as a senior designer at Fairfax Dorn Projects and Sienna Oosterhouse. She is the Design Director/Partner at NAN Collective, where her versatile talents have been employed since its inception.

The Silverlake Apartment was originally a multi-family home that was built in 1923 by Austrian-born American architect Rudolph M. Schindler and is one of the earliest examples of his concrete slab construction method. Later converted into a triplex, the apartment has a shotgun-style layout that poses unique challenges to the renter in creating separate spaces in a home without doors.

With functionality always at the heart of her design – and becoming exponentially more important in smaller living spaces – Miramontes approached the apartment with a determination to use the unusual floor plan to her advantage and turn all of its tiny opportunities into significant moments that make this Silverlake Apartment a home.
